Which cam site should a beginner start on?
Every beginner asks this, and a lot of the answers online are affiliate links wearing a blog post. The person telling you one site is the best usually earns something when you sign up to it.
So here is the version without that. Four sites, what each is actually like to work on, and who tends to do well there. None of them is the best. They are different rooms with different crowds, and the same woman can do well on one and badly on another for reasons that have nothing to do with how she looks.
What the four have in common
You are paid in site currency. Viewers buy tokens, tip them into your room or spend them on a private show, and you convert them to money at whatever rate applies to your account. That rate is not a fixed public fact: it moves with the site, with your tier, with whether you are independent or signed with a studio, and it can change without asking you. Anyone quoting an exact figure is quoting a screenshot from some year. Ask what your own rate is, in writing, and what changes it.
Payouts run on a schedule, with a minimum before the site sends anything, and the payment methods vary by country. Check one of them works where you live before you spend a week earning. You are self-employed on all four sites, and with us, so registration and tax are yours to handle: check what that means where you live with your own tax authority, not with a blog, this one included.
All four verify your identity themselves. You upload your own document to the platform, through the platform, and that is the only place it should go. We do not take ID documents from anyone: models verify directly with each platform. If someone asks you to send documents to them instead, that alone is reason to walk away.
All four offer region blocking, and you should use it. Be clear about what it does: it removes you from casual discovery by people near you, which is the realistic risk. It does not stop someone who already knows your username, and it does nothing about anything recorded and reposted elsewhere. It is a good lock on the front door, not a disappearing act.
Chaturbate: the biggest crowd and the most competition
The largest English-speaking audience of the four, weighted towards the United States. On a weekend evening there are more rooms live than anyone can scroll through. That cuts both ways: more people are looking, and there are more rooms for them to look at instead of yours.
Earning is mostly public. Viewers tip into the room, usually towards a visible goal. Private shows exist but are not the centre of the culture, so you are performing for a crowd that has not paid yet, and converting part of it.
What works is momentum: tip goals, a tip menu, something always about to happen. Long sessions tend to help, because the ranking rewards what a room earns over time.
It suits someone who can sit on camera for hours with nothing certain at the start of a session and still hold a conversation when the room is quiet. If an empty chat makes you close the laptop, this is the hardest of the four to begin on.
Stripchat: heavy promotion, and a push towards private
Large and more European, though it pulls from everywhere and buys a lot of advertising. The interface is newer and more gamified: wheels, toy integrations, contests, ranking tiles.
Tokens again, but the site steers viewers towards paid private and spy shows more than Chaturbate does. Public tipping still matters. It is more often the warm-up than the whole business.
What works is a room built to convert: a public show that is interesting but clearly incomplete, something interactive people can pay to trigger, and an actual invitation to take it private.
It suits someone who would rather work a shorter, more intense session and does not mind that part of the job is selling. If you are good one to one but drained by long public sets, that trade may suit you. A second European language helps here, because the audience is genuinely mixed.
BongaCams: strong in Europe and the CIS, led by privates
Weighted towards Russian-speaking members, Germany and continental Europe. English works, but you will notice it is not the same crowd and the tastes are not the same tastes.
Earning leans on private shows. The free room is thinner on tipping than Chaturbate, and the money shows up when someone takes you one to one, so the public room is mainly a shop window. What works is relationships: members who come back, remember you and book again. It tends to be slower to start and steadier once it does.
It suits anyone who speaks Russian, German or another continental language, where the edge is large and obvious. It also suits someone who finds a huge anonymous public room draining and would rather deal with a handful of people properly.
MyFreeCams: smaller, older, built on regulars
The smallest and oldest of the four, women only, with a United States heavy member base that has been there for years. Fewer people walk past your door, and the ones who come in are more likely to stay.
Earning is public tipping in a free room, ranked by a score that leans on what a room earns relative to its size rather than raw hours online. A small, loyal room can rank better than its viewer count suggests.
What works is consistency and personality: regulars by name, a schedule people can rely on, running jokes. Conversation-heavy rooms survive here in a way they often do not elsewhere.
It suits someone who wants a room she can manage and will build slowly. It is a poor fit if you want volume quickly, and the interface will feel dated on your first evening.
Multistreaming, and why the answer is usually more than one site
Multistreaming means broadcasting one camera feed to several sites at once. Your software sends the video to two, three or four platforms in parallel and you keep a chat window open for each. The reason is straightforward: your limit is not your performance, it is how many people ever see you. Three rooms live in the same hour is three chances that hour pays, for the same time in front of the camera.
The costs are real. Three chats, three sets of names, three sets of tip alerts, and a genuine risk of thanking the wrong person. It needs a computer that can encode more than one stream and an upload that holds. Some sites restrict it in their terms or pay a bonus for exclusivity, and most forbid naming other sites on screen. Read what you signed.
Do not do it in your first week. Learn one room until running it is boring, then add the second. This is the part an agency earns its cut on: at OnlyStars the encoder setup and the watching of which site actually converts is our job rather than yours. It is also learnable alone, and plenty of women do it without anybody.
So which one do you open first
A rough sort, not a ruling:
- If you speak only English and can commit to long evening sessions, start on Chaturbate.
- If you want shorter sessions and are comfortable selling a private show, start on Stripchat.
- If you speak Russian, German or another continental language, start on BongaCams.
- If you want a small room you can manage and you have patience, start on MyFreeCams.
Now the uncomfortable part. Whichever you pick, the first few weeks are usually slow. Every ranking system here punishes irregularity, so moving between four sites in a month is the most reliable way to make all four look like failures. The site was not the problem. The clock kept getting reset.
Pick one. Same days, same hours, for a month. Then add a second and multistream. That order matters more than the choice.
On money, so you have something to measure against rather than a forum screenshot: models with us working an agreed schedule tend to land between $2,000 and $3,000 a month, and the best single month we have seen on one account was $19,194 net. The second figure is an outlier. Neither number is a promise of what you will earn, and treating the outlier as a plan is how people end up disappointed in month two.
Choose the site that matches how you want to work, give it a month of the same hours on the same days before you judge it, and only then add a second one.
